About IIDEX/NeoCon
IIDEX/NeoCon Canada
IIDEX/NeoCon Canada is Canada's largest exposition and conference for the design, construction and management of the built environment. IIDEX/NeoCon Canada's mandate is to serve the interests of interior design, architectural, facility management, real estate development and business communities through an annual tradeshow and conference that takes place at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto. Now in its 26th year, IIDEX/NeoCon Canada is owned by the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) and produced and managed by Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (MMPI). MMPI manages or owns more than 300 events in North America including NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago.
The Greening of IIDEX/NeoCon Canada
IIDEX/NeoCon Canada has launched a three year initiative to make the show more sustainable by using green suppliers and contractors to create Canada's first GREEN trade show. Initiatives include: printing all promotional materials on FSC certified 100% post consumer recycled paper, creating a carbon neutral show and collaborating with the Direct Energy Centre to reduce the environmental footprint of the show.
IIDEX/NeoCon Canada Sustainable Mission Statement

PrintGREEN Program
In collaboration with Spicers Paper and Somerset Printing, IIDEX/NeoCon Canada is pleased to continue our highly successful PrintGREEN program. Launched in 2006, the PrintGREEN now includes the entire IIDEX/NeoCon Canada promotional material program - letterhead, business cards, postcards and brochure will be printed on Canadian made Rolland Enviro-100 paper. This paper is manufactured from 100% post-consumer waste fiber; is Process Chlorine Free (PCF) and uses Biogas Energy in its production (an alternative "green energy" source produced from decomposing waste collected from landfill sites) to reduce greenhouse emissions and the depletion of the ozone layer. Rolland Enviro -100 saves the harvesting of mature trees; reduces solid waste that would have been dumped into landfill sites; uses 80% less water than conventional paper manufacturing and helps to reduce air and water pollution. We appreciate the support of Spicers Paper in developing this innovative program.
GREEN Scene at the Direct Energy Centre

GREEN Decorator
GES CANADA is proud to be a new partner with MMPI Canada. We are committed to constantly sourcing the latest innovations in green products available for use as they relate to the trade show industry.
Being in the rental business, the majority of our equipment is shipped in and out of show site for future reuse. The cleaning products we use to prepare and maintain our inventory are specifically chosen to be environmentally friendly.
In terms of our graphics, signs and banners, our sustainable initiatives include the reclamation and reuse of graphics substrates that are not recyclable and the use of other substrates such as Bioboard which is made of 65% post consumer recycled material. GES CANADA also uses Biobanner which will oxo-biodegrade in landfill in as little as 9 months, leaving no harmful toxic residue. In addition we produce bamboo banner stands which use eco-intelligent polyester and water based inks.
