(Toronto) Klaus Nienkämper, known as a furniture design genius, has been in the business for over 40 years; an amount of time unheard of in any design related field. He has consistently been in the forefront of modern furniture design in Canada. Klaus Nienkämper, will be the Legend Keynote at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada 2008 and will be in conversation with William Thorsell, Director and CEO of the Royal Ontario Museum. The conversation takes place Thursday, September 25 from 4 – 5 PM.
Nienkämper arrived in Canada in 1960 from Germany. Fixed on making modern furniture, he began working with respected designers and in 1968, established a company that introduced classic European imports to the Canadian market. Nienkämper quickly established itself into a company renowned for the handcrafted quality of its products, manufacturing unique and distinctive furniture. Today, he has become recognized as a leading innovator and a leader in the promotion of Canadian industrial design on the world stage.
