Toronto Hydro-Electric System’s Business Incentive Program (BIP) encourages and rewards energy-efficient renovation to commercial buildings. Under this program, Toronto Hydro-Electric Systems offers incentives to owners and operators of buildings 25,000 square feet or less. The presentation’s objective is to raise awareness of BIP’s electricity retro-fit incentives. Attendees will learn about BIP’s application process and what equipment qualifies for incentives (e.g. lighting, deep lake water cooling and natural gas-fired generators). The presentation also teaches the importance of technologies that improve the energy efficiency of the building loads, or shift such loads to off peak periods, such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP), solar PV (photo-voltaic) and solar water heating.
Speaker: Peter Sissaris, C.E.T., is currently the Manager of Demand Response at Toronto Hydro. He has worked with Ontario Electrical Utilities for the past 32 years and with Toronto Hydro for the past 26 years. Most of his time has been spent in the Customer Service area managing high volume calls related to Metering, Water Heating, Cable Locates and emergency low voltage trouble calls. Since January 2006, Peter has been working full time helping to build Toronto Hydro’s Conservation and Demand Management Programs.
