Join internationally acclaimed product designer Richard Kirk for an exciting exploration the emerging lighting technologies Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED) perhaps the most sustainable lighting technology of the future and Polymer Organic Light Emitting Diodes (PLED) with a presentation which will take attendees on a journey through the future of lighting design.

Speaker: Following a successful career as an artist living in Paris, with many of his works in national and public collections Richard Kirk moved into the advertising world in London. It was while working for Bogle Bartle Hegarty, BBH the international advertising agency that Richard first realized the potential of EL technology for the design, art and industrial industries. He founded Elumin8 2001, which became the world’s foremost manufacturer of Electroluminescent (EL) technology. Elumin8 concentrated in equal measure on the Elumin8 Art Foundation and industrial applications. The Foundation was created to demonstrate the potential of the technology through art and design, a demonstration of Richard’s belief in the importance of these ideas. Richard is now CEO of PolyPhotonix, a UK company manufacturing PLED devices for lighting, design and automotive applications. PolyPhotonix has a number of international partners and investors including CPI the Centre for Process and Innovation, and PETEC in the UK.

He works with a number of academic institutions including Harvard (Project Lebone, ‘Lighting Africa’) and ENSCI in Paris and sits on a number of Advisory Boards and Steering Committees in Europe. He is a consultant to UKDL and PETEC in the UK.
