Colour Origins will present a brief synopsis of over 40,000 years in the development of colour science and the use of colour as fashion, status and cultural identity. It will look at colour as an art form, and as one of the earliest attempts by humans to communicate and decorate. Attendees will enhance or refresh their understanding of various colour pigments and their origins, through anecdotes, history and real-life examples of both ancient and modern pigments.

Speaker: Sharon Grech is the colour and design spokesperson for Benjamin Moore Paints in Canada, and a regular guest expert on CityTV’s Cityline. An authority on colour in the home, she is called upon to research colour trends, give seminars and lead the company’s design team on a number of major projects. Sharon began her career as a decorative artist and mural painter and later worked at a small design-build firm, developing palettes and custom finishes for commercial and residential projects.
