This session will focus on a project currently in the works that is building to a LEED platinum level, but also incorporates the mindset that there are green possibilities beyond LEED. The $9-million Mountain Equipment Co-op project, located in Burlington, is striving to follow the Living Building Challenge by being the most environmentally conscious building possible. It features a single-storey retail space with a partial second floor of offices, surrounded by permeable pavers and landscaping that encompasses onsite cisterns and a filtration gallery. The seminar will provide examples and methods for building and operating a facility in the most environmentally conscious way.

Speaker: Tanya Mackie has five years of experience in the construction industry in both project management and site-supervisory roles. Tanya brings a proven track record in the successful management of tenant improvements of retail and office spaces. She holds a BE Sc in civil engineering from the University of Western Ontario.
