Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD), such as back strain and tennis elbow, remain the most common and most costly type of work-related injuries in Canada. Recently, federal regulations were introduced requiring employers to address ergonomics-related hazards, and the Ontario government released guidelines and tools to help prevent these painful and costly injuries. Whether you need ergonomics to enhance the health and safety of your own employees or to improve the workplace design for your clients, this session will help demystify the topic and connect you with the resources and references you need.
Speaker: Ivan Szapetis is a Canadian certified professional ergonomist working for the Industrial Accident Prevention Association. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BSc in kinesiology and has worked in a range of industries to help improve health, safety and productivity. He’s applied ergonomics in workplaces such as operating rooms, automobile assembly plants, meat and poultry processing, nuclear power plants, government offices, warehouses, military operations and even a convent.
