Since China opened up to the West 15 years ago, it has gone through an aggressive modernization program. Today, practically everyone buys things made in China and everyone wants to do business there. But in a quiet and gentle way, the design community is changing the face of China. Pierre Lo will lead a delegation of interior designers from China in a presentation on the changing values in the design sector. For the past ten years, Pierre has been motivating Chinese designers to engage creativity, innovation, originality and personality in their work. Attendees will get an intimate look at the design industry in China, the cultural, historical and social influences on design, obstacles designers face, and the work of ten top professionals.

Speaker: Pierre Lo, IFI, APSDA, IFDA, FICIAD, FDMU, is director of GL (Asia) Limited and the design director of M Design, in Hong Kong. He was founder of the Interior Design Association (HK) in 1991 and its first chairman. Pierre has served on the board of the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) and was director of the Hong Kong Design Centre from 2001 to 2004. A frequent speaker at design conferences in Southeast Asia, Pierre was part of Toronto Mayor David Miller’s China delegation to Chongqing last spring.
