UNION LABOUR JURISDICTIONS
Direct Energy Centre requires Show Management and their exhibitors to adhere to all collective agreements in place between Direct Energy Centre, Exhibition Place and the following Unions:
1. Labourers/Cleaners - International Labourers’ Union, Local 506
- loading and unloading of all trucks
- floor marking, pipe, drape, hard walls
- banner/sign hanging
- assembly and dismantling of prefabricated booths (exhibitors may use some of their own personnel to oversee the booth assembly but the actual work must be done by Local 506.)
- use of mechanical equipment (ie. forklifts, pallet-jacks, etc.)
- carpet installation
- cleaning services

2. Carpenters - Carpenter’s Local 27
- All exhibit carpentry and construction performed on the grounds
- All resilient flooring is to installed & dismantled by Local 27 resilient flooring division.
To minimize onsite costs exhibitors are advised to perform all cutting, hammering, etc. off site and leave only the actual assembling via fasteners to be done on site. Exhibitors can hire whichever company they wish to do this type of work as long as the carpenter is a member of Local 27. Click here for a full list of companies to choose from.
3. Electricians (exclusive to the Direct Energy Centre) - IBEW Local 353
All electrical/wiring work must be done exclusively by the Direct Energy Centre’s in-house electricians. No hard wiring is to be done on site, other than by Direct Energy Centre staff. All equipment should be ready to plug in with 3 prong cords and be ESA approved.
4. Plumbers (exclusive to the Direct Energy Centre) - Plumbers Union, Local 46
- provide all water/drain/compressed air sources to the booths and include final connections.
These services are provided exclusively by Direct Energy Centre’s in-house plumbers. Exhibitors cannot hire anyone but Direct Energy Centre to perform this work.
5. IATSE (exclusive to the Direct Energy Centre) - International Alliance of Theatrical Staging Employees, Local 58
- all audio/visual work
- rigging
- theatrical lighting installations
- unloading & loading of theatrical equipment
All contractors providing audio/visual production may provide supervision only. These services are provided exclusively by Direct Energy Centre.
6. Painters - The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 46
- exhibit painting and drywall taping and finishing of exhibits
Exhibitors can hire whichever company they wish to do this type of work as long as the painter is a member of the above mentioned union. Click here for a full list of companies to choose from.
