ARIDO, The Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario
ARIDO is the self-regulatory professional organization for Interior Designers in Ontario, Canada representing over 3,300 Registered and Intern Interior Designers, Students and Affiliate members. Formed in 1934, ARIDO grew to become the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario in 1984 when the ARIDO Act was proclaimed in the Legislature of Ontario. In 1999, this Act was amended to provide that only practitioners who meet ARIDO standards may use the title “Interior Designer” in the province of Ontario.
In 2005, ARIDO launched its “Make Space for Good Design” campaign which you will see throughout IIDEX/NeoCon Canada this year. The goal of the campaign is to educate the public and business consumer about the benefits of hiring and working with professional Interior Designers.
ARIDO and Merchandise Mart Properties Inc.
ARIDO established IIDEX in 1984 and it quickly grew to become Canada’s premier trade show for the design, management and construction of interior environments. In 1998, ARIDO contracted the management of the event to Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. to create IIDEX/NeoCon Canada.
In 2005, ARIDO purchased the Canadian Facility Management & Design Expo and Conference as an addition to IIDEX. It is anticipated that the combination of the two shows will provide an expanded exhibitor and attendee base from the facility and property management and building owner communities.
Canadian Facility Management & Design Expo and Conference
IIDEX/NeoCon Canada now includes the CFM&D Expo and Conference. ARIDO purchased the CFM&D show earlier this year and continues to collaborate with the show’s founder Arvid Stonkus to develop the facility management conference, exhibitor and attendee. Every day facility managers are faced with complex challenges that need to be addressed using up-to-the minute knowledge and resources. This year IIDEX/NeoCon Canada is the place for facility managers to find solutions to over 10,000 sq. ft of exhibits, a complete seminar program and keynote address. Developed in collaboration with Canadian Facility Management & Design Magazine this year’s conference covers the most important issues facing the real world of facility managers.
